Long Stem rollers are for commercial and residential Carriage House doors. The reason for the long-standing rollers is because on these types of garage doors that hinges on the left and right hand side are doubled up in other words there’s two hinges instead of just one on the left and right hand side. The reason for the doubled up hinges is for extra support on a garage door of that size and weight the door panels way much more and need just a little bit more support so they put the extra hands on each panel and also use the long stem rollers because of the extra space needed. Typically this would be a 8 to 12 inch long stem roller. This will also help if a garage door cable jumps off the cable drums then the door at that point usually goes crooked or either to the left or either to the right and I’ll longstem roller will sometimes mean the difference between the door coming out of the track and crashing down on your car or out of the bottom of the door and cause other problems.
