When it comes to opener manufactures you have to keep in mind that some of them make openers for other companies. For example Chamberlain makes Liftmaster and Craftsman openers and Genie and Overhead brand are the same manufacture. These are American companies. Linear is another top brand made in the U.S. Marantec is a European brand opener and Wayne Dalton brand are Canadian.

As far as ranking them by quality my opinion is as follows. Chamberlain, Liftmaster and Craftsman should be at the top of the list followed by Linear, Genie, Marantec and try to stay away from anything that says Wayne Dalton on it. I have seen nothing but nightmares with the Wayne Dalton drive opener. They don’t last but a few years and are not cheap to replace. This only my personal opinion others may have there own opinion. I have spent several years working exclusively with home warranty companies and repaired strictly opener units.

These warranty companies made sure an opener unit could be repaired as opposed to replacement of openers. So the warranty companies want it repaired until it can’t be repaired anymore. And when you see the same problems over and over with one certain brand than you get a real good idea who the more quality manufactures are.
