How to program a Universal Keypad?

The only brand of universal keyless entry that I have ever used is the same one you will get at Home Depot and Lowes. It is made by Chamberlain/Liftmaster but bares the name Clicker. They manufacture the most popular brands of universal remotes and wireless keypads. These universal remotes are mostly universal to Genie, Chamberlain/Liftmaster, Linear,Moore-o-Matic, Multi Codes, Stanley, Craftsman, etc. Any other brand is probably not going to work because these companies control so much of the opener market. Other brands just don’t sell enough units to make it worth the $ to include all manufactures.

universal remotes and wireless keypads

These universal remotes and wireless keypads also work with Older Dip Switch transmitters. The oldest units won’t have learn buttons they will have what they call Dip Switches. Dip Switches use 8 to 12 small switches in a row that have an On or off position and the opener switches have to match the remotes switch positions to make remote talk to the opener.

opener programming

If I were to break down the procedure for each different brand of opener programming it would mirror the instructions included with the opener at time of purchase and would be in my own words and not of the manufacturer. The instructions are pretty easy to follow and if you already have one of these remotes than all the information you need is available on any Internet search website you prefer.
