How do I program my car to the garage door opener?

If your car has a built in door and gate button option than you can program them to your gates and garage doors. On most American, Europeans and Japanese autos this is called Homelink. This allows you to not worry about separate remotes on your car’s sun visor.

European made cars are a little bit more difficult to program than US and Japanese cars.

This is something you might have to do thru the dealership of your car manufacturer. There are 2 types of radio signals. The older models built before the mid 90’s use a signal that is the same every time you push remote button. The other is called a rolling code technology. This means the remote sends out a different code every time you push the button. This is a security feature to keep thieves from copying your signal and using it to access your garage or home.

All the information you need to program your car to the garage door opener can be found in your cars owners’ manual. If you don’t have your owners manual than the Internet or the dealership will have this info. Most of the time you just have to hold the openers original remote up to the buttons in your car and the other way is to use the learn code button located on your opener to program. If you own a Mercedes or BMW than I have no clue because to this day I have not been able to successfully program these manufactured autos. Every customer that has those vehicles asked me to program their European cars – has had to go to the dealer.
