How can i fix a broken window on my garage door?

Q: How can i fix a broken window on my garage door?

A: Some garage doors are equipped with windows or in the industry there are called lites. Some window frames just pop in, others use screws to attach to door. Custom garage doors can have Double pane insulated windows. Most steel and wood doors just have single pane windows. Also some manufacturers make what we call in the industry as Full View garage doors (Full View Garage door: The easiest way to describe these doors is that they look and function just like Commercial Doors that you will find at a gas station of a fire house where the door panels are just framed glass that you can see a full view.)

Broken windows can be replaced pretty easily depending on door manufacturer. manufacturers that use screws on inside of window frames are the most easily to replace. glass must be exact same size as windows from factory. windows with screws takes 2 people one to un screw and another on outside of door to keep window from falling out. window frames without screws just pop in but can be difficult and should be done by professional to keep from damaging the metal panel.

Whenever i come across window frames that are attached to panels with screws i always have to be aware when i screw frames together because if you tighten the screws just a little too tight it cracks the window every time.

Always remember when attempting to replace glass yourself to have two people, one on inside and one outside. If frames don’t have screws and are too difficult to remove than call a technician because it is real easy to damage the metal panel and windows will tend to leak when it rains.
