Garage door hinges will vary in engineering from different brands of garage door manufactures. Most of the time door hinges are interchangeable because manufacturers don’t want or need the expense of engineering their own hinge system. The manufactures that do manufacture their own hinge systems are all very different and are not interchangeable. There may be manufactures that I have not worked with but the companies that I know of that do are as follows. Amarr makes a 2 part hinge. Wayne Dalton makes there own hinge system. Also Overhead Door and Raynor brand openers use there own hinge systems. Some brands will make plastic hinge systems that do not last long at all.

Basic door hinges

The only garage doors that consistently use basic door hinges are constructed of wood, and these hinges can be used on most any steel garage door not made by some of the brands I listed above. As far as Clopay brand garage doors go, They had tried to engineer their own door hinges a few years back around 2005 for a pinch less type of door panel and did not work well so they quit making them. Otherwise most all Clopay brand doors use a basic hinge system and are interchangeable.
