My Genie screw drive opener turns, but the door won’t rise.

okay this is a common problem with Genie garage door openers and sometimes it is a very easy problem to fix. I don’t know how many times I have showed up to a customer’s home to find out that there Genie opener is running but the door will not move and it is all just because somehow the opener was getting gauged from the door is mean that somehow the emergency release was pulled down and not engage in order to make the garage door opener pull the door up so this should be the first thing that you should check in on a genie screw drive the trolley that moves back and forth on the screw do tend to wear out on a regular basis they last anywhere from 5 to 10 years and get teeth inside the trolley just get knocked off and chipped and eventually worn down to wear to screw cannot grab the trolley anymore and if this is the case then it will make an extremely loud grinding noise when you hit the button to activate the garage door opener if it does not make a grinding noise and the door still will not move  the emergency release is not engaged to the door.

can you hear the opener running?

Now if you can hear the opener running and the screw in the real is not turning then that is a whole different problem that means that the coupler which connects the motor to the screw inside the opener has worn out and they come from the factory made of plastic so they are not made to last a very long time and is a very common problem with Genie garage door opener screw drive. Either one of these situations is very easy to fix and Jeannie still makes these parts so getting it fixed should not be a problem and it should not be very expensive either because the coupler is about $2 and of the trolley if you had to replace it I think is around 15 or 20 dollars to bye and I think they even sell them at Home Depot and Lowes so check there first and if you have to replace the trolley you can attempt to do it on your own and is very easy but you will need to disconnect the opener rail from the header above your garage door so you can get to the old trolley off and put on the new one and also make sure that it is properly lubricated. If you have to replace the coupler then you would probably want to call a garage door company to do that for you since it is a little bit more involve will need to be repaired correctly in order for everything to work properly again.
