Which garage door opener is easier to install, Liftmaster, Genie or Marantec

Liftmaster/Craftsman and Genie both make do it yourself units for Home Depot, Lowes etc. These home install units are never easy unless you have some experience in the field. Marantec is a European company and do not make a home install opener.

If you have no experience with garage door openers than there is not an easier brand to install. Even though they assemble very differently they all have equally difficult instructions. You would have to be very mechanically inclined and very proficient with detailed instructions to not be intimidated. If you are a professional than I don’t need to tell you which is more difficult to install.

Marantec openers are to me at least the more difficult to install because of the buttons that set all the functions are too confusing. And there is about 10 buttons used to set all the settings when you install it or to do any maintenance. Still to this day I have not figured out how to program a Marantec opener without calling their toll free number for support.

I have only installed 1 Marantec opener in my long career in the garage door business. I will say putting the opener together was very easy but programing them is way too much trouble. I’m sure if I installed them on a daily basis it would be much easier but learning to program. The Liftmaster/Craftsman and Genie were much easier to learn.
