What should I do if every time I open my garage door I hear a loud noise from the springs?

lubricate your springs

Different types of springs make different kinds of noise. Extension springs make similar sounds to a screen door opening or any kind of spring that extends and contracts. Torsion springs rotate on a pole. These springs if installed and lubed correctly will not make much
noise at all. If the do make noise its a rumbling sound as door goes up. This means the springs need to be lubed. Also when torsion springs are wound up the spring needs to stretch out about 2-3 inches. This keeps the wire that makes up the spring from rubbing together when spring rotates.

Anytime springs make noise than they most likely need to be lubed. You can buy garage door lube at any hardware store. Extension springs don’t quite down as much when lubed.
