Torsion springs (Torsion springs are tubular and attach to metal pole above door opening) are not for sale to the general public at any retail hardware store. There is far too much danger in replacing torsion springs.

Now if you have a solid one piece garage door that uses extension springs, than in some states they do sell these kinds of springs at some retail hardware stores. These types of springs are not as dangerous as torsion springs.

I worked for a garage door company years ago and my boss sold a customer a torsion spring and the man ended up in the hospital. And then he went to court for negligence and lost.
